Our Giraffe is Spreading a Message of Sustainability

Oct 10, 2023

In a world where environmental concerns are becoming increasingly critical, our handmade Goldie the Giraffe made from organic cotton has emerged as an unlikely messenger of sustainability. Crafted with care and creativity, our adorable Goldie not only captivates hearts but also carries a powerful message about the importance of using recycled polyester filling made from PET bottles.

This whimsical Goldie, lovingly handcrafted by skilled artisans, embodies the spirit of eco-conscious living. Its soft, organic cotton exterior is a testament to the commitment to environmentally friendly materials. Organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, making it a sustainable choice that protects both the earth and the health of those who cultivate it.

However, what truly sets our Goldie the Giraffe apart is his inner filling, which is made from recycled polyester derived from discarded PET bottles. Each year, millions of PET bottles end up in landfills and oceans, contributing to environmental pollution and harm to wildlife. The use of recycled polyester filling in this soft toy breathes new life into these bottles, diverting them from waste streams and giving them a meaningful purpose once more.

By choosing to fill our soft toys with recycled polyester, we want to send a powerful message that we can transform waste into something beautiful and useful. This simple act of repurposing not only reduces the demand for new, virgin materials but also conserves energy and reduces carbon emissions associated with traditional manufacturing processes.

Our eco-conscious Goldie the Giraffe carries his message of sustainability wherever he goes, inspiring those who encounter it to consider the impact of their choices. It reminds us that we can make small changes in our lives to create a more eco-friendly future. Choosing products like our handmade giraffe not only supports local artisans but also contributes to a more sustainable world.

In a world where every decision we make can have an impact, this organic cotton giraffe filled with recycled polyester serves as a symbol of hope and responsibility. It encourages us to take a closer look at the materials we use and the choices we make, reminding us that even a simple stuffed animal can make a difference in the journey towards a greener, more sustainable planet.

A Perfect Summer Picnic

July 06, 2023

Sunny days have arrived, and with that, also many flavors, scents, and textures that your child can enjoy outside. Maybe your child will walk barefoot on the grass or in the sand for the first time. Do you remember when was the first time you tasted something new? Can you remember the smell of fresh summer flowers or sweet fruit? Our friend Zoja in Rissa is enjoying a picnic for the first time! She has placed everything in one basket, including our rattle apples, and she’s heading to the beach!

This is a fantastic opportunity for Zoja to create a healthy connection with food. Fruits, vegetables, and a healthy diet are a lot of fun, especially when you can feel different textures. At Patti Oslo, we create toys with purpose. This means we make designs that stimulate the senses, so your child can explore the world in a safe way. Zoja analyses the differences in color, smell, weight, and texture. Her basket has bananas, apples, and grapes. Perhaps she’s thinking of opening a fruit store!

Zoja is playing with her family, imagining she has a little fruit stand. She places similar objects together and gives fruits in exchange for seashells (her magical currency!). She weighs the fruits to give people the right amount in exchange for seashells and other treasures people have found at the beach. She can hear the sound of the waves in the background and the soft bell inside the rattle apples. She quickly shakes all the fruits to check if different fruits make different sounds. Zoja is stimulating her motor skills as well.

She’s making small piles of sand to place the fruits on top. She can feel many different textures, and soon everything is covered in sand. Patting the sand with a bit of water is so fun! Not to worry, our products are designed to be functional and helpful for parents too! Cleaning instructions and a cleaning bag for the washing machine are included with each toy. In this way, Zoja can happily play and enjoy the day. Her parents can also relax knowing that the toys will last and will be easy to clean.

After a few hours of playing, Zoja gets hungry. It’s time to eat the real fruits! Her parents help her clean the banana peel and the leftovers of the apples. Cleaning up after a picnic also teaches children from a young age the importance of not polluting the ocean, reducing waste, and taking care of public spaces and the environment. All collections are made with certified eco-responsible materials, with no harsh chemicals, dyes, or harmful substances. Sustainability is our core value, and our low-impact products with lasting materials are meant to last for generations. We challenge others to reduce waste.

The sun will set soon, so it’s time for Zoja to go home. She had a great time today and learned a lot about fruits. Maybe next week, she’ll return to the beach to create new games and memories with our latest summer collection.

HOORAY, HOORAY, IT’S 17TH OF MAY!

May 17, 2023

Here in Norway, we celebrate Constitution Day on the 17th of May. On Norway’s most special day, we celebrate Norway’s culture and history, and it’s also Children’s Day, full of festivities and events specially made for the little ones! As a tribute to this day, we at Patti Oslo have created a little story to tell you how Bea Bunny, one of our organic soft toys, celebrates the 17th of May with his family!

Bea Bunny lives with his family in Oslo, in Grünerløkka. Now that the snow has melted and we are enjoying long and sunny days, this lively neighbourhood has a green park where Bea plays, and he’s looking forward to go out today! The festivities, however, start already at home with a delicious traditional breakfast with waffles! No 17th of May breakfast would be complete without waffles with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream, the same colors as the Norwegian flag!

The table has flowers and decorations with national colors. Unlike other days, Bea is in his finest clothes from the start of the day! His mother is wearing a bunad, which is the traditional costume of Norway. Her clothes are vibrant blue, but bunads come in different colors, representing regions of Norway!

Once everyone has eaten, they head downtown to the capital’s main street, Karl Johan. At the year’s largest parade, people gather with flags and shout: “Hooray! Hooray!” Bea hopes to see the royal family on their way to the Royal Palace. They wave to greet all the people gathering at the parade. There are marching bands playing music, and children also join the parade, waving flags and singing. Bea had never seen such a big crowd cheering before! He hops on the shoulders of his dad so he can see better.

Once the parade finishes, Bea and his family walk around the city because the public celebrations have just started. There are still plenty of things to do! Just a few meters away, in Karl Johan, he meets Goldie Giraffe, Luna Lamb and Kenni Koala eating ice cream!

Bea is excited to see all the children gathering at parks to play board games, dance, sing, and eat hot dogs and ice cream! The streets are filled with music as the marching bands continue to go around the city, and the day is spectacularly sunny! He hops around and plays with other children until it’s time to head back home. He’s happy because he ate great food, the weather was fantastic, and he also made new friends today!

Bea and his family return home after a day filled with games, laughter, and new friends. He can’t wait for next year’s 17th of May, the best day to be a child!

Introducing the New Patti Oslo Website: A Journey through Sustainability, Craftsmanship, and Nordic Minimalism

May 04, 2023

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new website at Patti Oslo! After months of hard work and dedication, we are excited to share with you the new look and feel of our brand.

These years of designing unique pieces helped us decide to renew our website to better explain our values and priorities as a small sustainable business. Our desire to inspire people and to make conscious choices needed a better explained platform, easy to use and understand. Let's dive into some of our new website features.

Our Story

A profound need to tell our supporters our story is behind the choice to renew the website. We wanted to represent better the soul, work, and dreams for the future of this small sustainable brand.

I understood the value of handcraft after moving to Oslo, a city of calm vitality and with a long tradition in craftsmanship and design. Living in Oslo made me appreciate the importance of Nordic minimalism and lifestyle.  I decided to combine the modern design with the traditional crocheting technique. That's how our cuddle toys were born!

Organic Soft Cotton Toys

The new website features not only our story, but also a section dedicated to our handmade cotton toys.

Discover the new area dedicated to our soft toys. Explore our Spring Summer 23 collection with new arrivals, including the musical pull toy, ice cream rattles, pram chains and many more. You can also find our signature styles; cuddly lambs, soft bunnies, teddy bears, cat, elephant, and baby toys. Our extensive family of animal toys is designed to provide your baby with a lifetime of cuddles.

Suitable Language

Another key reason for our new website was to use more suitable language to better explain our values. We wanted to spread what we stand for and to communicate more effectively about our commitment to sustainability, transparency, and ethical working conditions. Our new website is designed to create an awareness about sustainability, and we aspire to achieve this goal by having a platform for sharing our values with you.

Craftsmanship

We want to show you our important team behind our brand.

Our new website features a section that illustrates our handmade soft toys and the talented women who bring them to life. We wanted to tell how we met them, started collaborating, and how our exciting adventure with them began.

We believe in preserving traditional craftsmanship and are proud to support these skilled artisans in Turkey through ethical working conditions and financial independence.

Scandinavian Minimalism and Colours

As a Norwegian brand, Scandinavian minimalism, colours, and nature are our prior inspirations for our collections and the new website as well.

We tried to recreate the same minimalism and aesthetic on the web page. We chose colours that convey a sense of calm and serenity, reflecting the Scandinavian essence of our brand. Our new website is essential and elegant. It reflects the Nordic soul while offering a smoother user experience for our customers.

Our new website is a reflection of our commitment to excellence and our dedication to providing our customers with the best possible experience. We are excited to take you on a journey through our values, craftsmanship, and commitment to sustainability. We invite you to explore our new website and discover the beauty and uniqueness of our handmade organic cotton toys and our ethics.

Thank you for your support and being a part of the Patti Oslo community. We look forward to sharing our journey with you and continuing to create beautiful, sustainable, and ethically-made products that will last for generations.
